SFentreprenur attended a great session on “Rules For A Successful Media Launch “ at Startup Bootcamp San Francisco this morning.

Here are a few PR tips we took away…

1. Establish your own personality and personal brand (Watch people like Steve Jobs, Richard Branson or Warren Buffet?)

2. Understand your brand category. Think about this…

  • Facebook is a Social NetworkUtility
  • Ning is a Social Networking Platform

What is your brand category? Or can you create a new category?

3. Build relationship with your core users early on. If they rely on you to succeed, they will be your best marketer and advocates

4.Ride the trend – Don’t waste your time and wait for the best time. Use the wave to tell your story

5. Five seconds elevator pitch – You don’t really have 30 seconds

6. Answer this question: “What is your unfair advantage?”
